The reason is because it is incredibly expensive and hard for the college to get the NAAB accreditation. Wentworth just managed to get their MArch program approved by overhauling their entire curriculum. It's brand new and a model program for all. They don't hand out accreditations for any college that wants to offer the program. At state schools, the tuition is not high enough to support a professional architecture program financially because the tuition does not support the pay the professors (who are licensed professionals) enough in addition to the program standards. So as you can see, professional degree arch programs only work at private institutions.
